In 1814, James Delaney, long believed to be dead, returns home to London from Africa to acquire his inheritance, only to find himself face to face with the most powerful trading organization of that era, the East India Company. In order to protect his father’s legacy, James must avoid his own death sentence and navigate across dangerous territories to build a shipping empire large enough to rival the East India Company.
