7) Life Drain (Aghanim’s Upgraded) + Aftershock
Ever wondered what it’s like to not only suck people off but also permastun them at the same time? If you have, then this is the combo for you. Aftershock is a great skill to use in Ability Draft as it guarantees an easy 1.5 second stun with a selection of spells that have a less than 5 second cooldown.
Special mentions to use with Aftershock are:
- Viscous Nasal Goo
- Arcane Bolt
- Rearm (level 3) and any other spell
Special Mention goes to Ball Lightning with Aftershock, for being one of the most difficult combos to play against.
6) Walrus Punch + Tidebringer
I’m sure you can imagine how much fun this would be. Kill not just creepwaves, but decimate entire teamfights. Once Walrus Punch starts scaling (and it’s really powerful in the mid to late game), this combo is pretty much guaranteed to take half HP from the entire enemy team. The usual Shadow Blade and Desolator builds for Walrus Punch make it easy to itemize too.
Good ability draft combos with Tidebringer are:
- God’s Strength
- Enchant Totem
- Drunken Brawler
The really funny part is that Enchant Totem, Tidebringer, Drunken Brawler, and God’s Strength all stack together – so the combination of these spells would be pretty broken.
5) Fiery Soul + Quill Spray
Do you know my idea of a relaxing Sunday afternoon? Running around at max speed spraying quills everywhere, alone, on my computer while all my friends are out enjoying life. But hey, my friends don’t know the joy of spamming quills at max movement speed. And they’re probably Jungle Legion Commander players anyway. The low cooldown on the quills allows your hero to basically always have Fiery Soul charges. That’s a good place to be.
Other spells that synergize with this combo:
- Thirst is the main one. Since Fiery Soul grands percentage based movespeed, Thirst amplifies that. The attack speed, attack damage and movespeed bonuses make you a fast, destructive monster if you have all three spells.
- Warpath, the ultimate ability is great with this combo for obvious reasons. You basically become a Bristleback, but much faster and much more potent.
- Astral Spirit procs Fiery Soul, so you can basically get permanent Fiery Soul stacks with the Spirit too. It’ll do less damage than Quills though.
4) Voodoo Restoration + Essence Aura
Unlimited mana and unlimited healing. This is one of those combos that shouldn’t be real, but has the possibility to be real if you want it to be. #Hardwork and #Dedication.
Essence Aura is also great with Mana Shield or Split Shot. Both of those give unlimited mana when procced, which is pretty often.
3) Focus Fire + Fury Swipes
This rather well known combo had to feature on this list. Even after the introduction of 7.07 where Focus Fire’s Attack Speed got reduced to 350, this is still an amazing combo. It’s probably even better for ranged heroes since you can move around now. In less than a second you should be able to stack up to more than 30 physical damage each hit.
Other abilities that work well with this combo:
- Geminate Attack
- Bash of the Deep or Time Lock
2) Shackles + Sticky Napalm
Anyone who has played Ability Draft, back when it was playable, knows the absolute havoc that Sticky Napalm can wreak. It’s an absolute nightmare to play against when someone gets this particular combo. Get napalm’d for a bit, and then you’re stunned for 5 seconds while you slowly whittle down to 0 HP and die.
Other amazing abilities to get with Sticky Napalm if you don’t get Shackles:
- Ion Shell
- Rocket Barrage
- Dark Pact
1) Overload + Rot
Rot procs Overload, so you get permanent Overload stacks while Rot is on. It’s a pretty straightforward, and yes, pretty broken ability combo. If my lucky stars aligned, and they never do, this is the combo I would pick every game. Synergizes great with any other mobility spell like Ball Lightning or Firefly, and deals a lot of damage.
Other great abilities to combo for permanent Overload:
- Voodoo Resoration
- Mana Shield
- Split Shot
